About Users	English (USA)
The users@lists.planet-lab.org mailing list is a forum for users of the PlanetLab system to share their wisdom and help new users get started, to talk about known bugs, and to informally announce new tools. It is a supportive environment tolerant of "newbie" questions and mistakes. It is intended to be more responsive than support for problems that users can solve. Its role is to help the PlanetLab community support itself where possible. The users list is for discussion of the following topics: 1) getting started, (e.g. ssh options, fetching host keys, finding documentation) 2) tools that make experiment deployment and service maintenance easier, 3) help with problems that aren't bugs in the system (e.g. yum, traceroute are missing), 4) controversial aspects of the architecture (e.g. the slice API, set of rpm's installed, bandwidth limits), (remember to be respectful) 5) announcements of temporary downtime of a few machines, 6) experiences and caveats (e.g. there are bad clocks NTP doesn't fix well) 7) press coverage (in moderation) n) similar topics; this is meant to be a guide, not an exhaustive list. Using Users
To post a message to all the list members, send email to users@lists.planet-lab.org. You can subscribe to the list, or change your existing subscription, in the sections below.
Subscribing to Users
Subscribe to Users by filling out the following form. You will be sent email requesting confirmation, to prevent others from gratuitously subscribing you. This is a private list, which means that the list of members is not available to non-members. Your email address:   Your name (optional):   You may enter a privacy password below. This provides only mild security, but should prevent others from messing with your subscription. Do not use a valuable password as it will occasionally be emailed back to you in cleartext. If you choose not to enter a password, one will be automatically generated for you, and it will be sent to you once you've confirmed your subscription.
