Ok, I got past the check for the private address by using DHCP, but that
seems like sort of an arbitrary check for something that, really, if
we're packaging this, nobody should care about except the local site's
admin.
Also, the form checks for a valid FQDN, which also seems a bit arbitrary
and useless for a setup that is strictly for testing. If I entered a
totally bogus domain, it was happy, but now I'm forced to use a bogus
domain. Just let me enter a hostname and go. It's just a test environment.
My thinking is that, if I was an admin at a site that was considering
deployment of a private planetlab, I would probably start out my testing
pretty much like I'm doing it now so I could get to know the knobs and
buttons, but all of these checks make for a lot of tripping and falling,
and for little real useful purpose, so far as I can tell.
