[Planetlab-devel] status on f10

Just a quick note on f10

I think it's worth that we try and support this release, since this is
probably what centos6 will be based on in the future. In addition,
even if I am all for the centos5 substrate for the next-to-come major
release, and in particular for the public platforms at PLC/PLE, I also
think that providing support for a recent distro can be quite helpful
for private labs.

=========
- util-vserver : Daniel has not had time to ship a f10-ready util-
vserver for centos yet, so I've drafted a very rough distributions/
f10; this seems to be enough for me to create f10 guests on my centos5
hosts

There still are some suspicious-looking error messages, like the ones
at the bottom;

=========
- our codebase: I've done a few changes, mostly to apply to f10
changes that I'd done for f9 in the first place.
Nothing really serious, the most disruptive change so far seems to
relate to rpm having been upgraded:

root at blitz /vservers # for i in c5 f8 f10; do echo -n "$i " ; vserver
2008.12.17--tr${i}-pl-32 exec rpm --version ; done
c5 RPM version 4.4.2
f8 RPM version 4.4.2.2
f10 RPM version 4.6.0-rc1

The whole stuff gets built OK

=========
- tests
For some weird reason, postgresql cannot bind port 5432 in the f10
guest, complaining with "address already in use."
(Of course the various scripts used to create guests and so forth are
strictly identical to what's used for c5/f8, where this works smoothly)

=========
- status
That's where I am right now; I guess I'll wait until Daniel provides
full support before I investigate further.
