[Planetlab-users] deletion of slice content

planetlab2.cs.northwestern.edu experienced a hard drive failure yesterday and
the disks were replaced. pads23.cs.nthu.edu.tw was reinstalled and just put
back into service on Tuesday after being down for 6 months. Did you lose data
on this node between Tuesday and today, or data that was on the machine 6
months ago?

Content may be lost on a node for a variety of reasons, some of which are
beyond our control and some of which are simply hard to control: hardware
failure, filesystem corruption, node compromise, disk space overflow. The AUP
does give fair warning, that nodes should not be used for persistent or even
reliable storage. With that said, we do try our best to save whatever is
salvageable in these situations and notify users if anything was recovered.
