They are indeed geographically diverse, and will exhibit physical
distance for experiments that need it. Someone from CERNET (the China
Education and Research Network organization) can probably give you
more topological detail about the hopcounts and the CERNET
infrastructure.
If your experiment has to do with geography, note that the two nodes
pl[1,2].6test.edu.cn are physically at Tsinghua University, along with
thu[1,2].6planetlab.edu.cn .
