Sorry. This is beyond my understanding as well. Neil's explanation sounds 
reasonable. VNET doesn't do anything special for TCP; it just looks up 
connection state. See net/ipv4/netfilter/ip_conntrack_proto_tcp.c for details on 
netfilter's TCP state machine.
