PlanetLab is actively expanding its reach around the world. Within the next
few months there will be:
- 20 nodes at 10 Universities in Russia
- 14 nodes on Japan's JGN2 network (www.jgn.nict.go.jp/e) and another 4
nodes two Wide Consortium Internet eXchange Points (www.wide.ad.jp) that
peer over a 10GigE pipe with Seattle.
- 10 nodes on Latin America's RedClara (www.redclara.net/en)
- 8 nodes on Polish Telecom's network (www.tp-ir.pl)
In terms of the world map shown on www.planet-lab.org, this collection will
improve PlanetLab's global reach and increase participation from more
distributed systems and networking research communities.
We would like to expand to both the South East Asian region (e.g., Thailand,
Indonesia, and the Philippines) as well as to the African continent (e.g.,
Nigeria, Libya, South Africa). I'd appreciate if members of the PlanetLab
community could provide me with names of strong CS departments in those
regions who are actively doing Network Systems research.
Thank you.
Marc
