[Planetlab-users] Segmentation fault root/user rights.

I have installed and compiled VLC on a planetlab node. I would like to be
able to launch it as a user (at least with "sudo") for several nodes.

Te binary is full right for users as well as short.wmv (just to be sure).

Here's what I get:

[slicename at planet slicename]$ vlc -I dummy VLC_PLAB_PktNeed/short.wmv

VLC media player 0.8.6 Janus

Segmentation fault

[slicename at planet slicename]$

Same result if I do "sudo vlc -I dummy".

It works only if I do "su".

[slicename at planet slicename]$ su

bash-2.05b# vlc -I dummy VLC_PLAB_PktNeed/Lavazza.wmv

VLC media player 0.8.6 Janus

starting VLC root wrapper... using UID 0 (root)

* Running VLC as root is discouraged. *

..

Good.

That obliges me to reserve a window just for each node.

Thanks for the attention.

Any suggestion is appreciated.
