[Planetlab-users] alpha release of 4.2

A new version of the PlanetLab node software (Version 4.2)
is now running on the following alpha nodes:

delta.cs.princeton.edu
planetlab1.cs.wisc.edu
echo.cs.princeton.edu
planetlab16.millennium.berkeley.edu

Please add them to your slice and make sure your software
runs. The only difference most users will see is an upgrade
from Fedora 4 to Fedora 8. Once we're confident this new
version is stable, we will deploy  a set of beta nodes, with a
full upgrade of all production nodes to follow.

For those interested in more details about the other changes
included in 4.2, please follow the "Developers" link on the
navigation bar. Briefly, the upgrade includes:

  o linux 2.6.12 -> 2.6.22 (SMP enabled by default)
  o vserver 2.0.1 -> 2.2.x
  o vnet module depreciated (replaced by iptables)
  o proper module depreciated (replaced by vsys)
