[Planetlab-users] PlanetLab 4.2 Upgrade

Hello,

The PlanetLab 4.2 Upgrade is underway!  All machines will be re-installed at the 
completion of the upgrade.  So, please save your data if you have valuable 
information there.

As well, all machines will include the following new features:

  * User's reference file system will change from Fedora Core 4, to Fedora 8.
  * Kernel will upgrade from 2.6.12 to 2.6.22.19 and VServer from 2.0 to 2.3
  * Vsys will replace Proper
  * Upgraded PlanetFlow
  * Multiple VServer reference images will be possible in the future
  * New kernel features (ipv6, fuse, chopstix, kvm) available for the future

Beta Deployment Node Group
  5/19-5/26   http://www.planet-lab.org/db/nodes/node_groups.php?id=1814

Production Deployment
  5/27-          Stage one   (100 nodes w/ PCUs)
  5/28-          Stage two   (remaining nodes w/ PCUs + others without)
  5/29-          Stage three ( 100 more without PCUs)
  5/30-          Stage four  ( all remaining, running nodes)
  5/30-          All Nodes   ( All new nodes brought up will be 4.2 )
